Maggie is looking for a family to call her own!

IBR is courtesy listing beautiful English Pointer girl Maggie for a Kansas shelter. Maggie is hoping to find a special family that will adopt her and give her the loving home she deserves.

Becky writes: "I work for the city of Yates Center, KS. We do have an animal shelter, but unfortunately it is not a no-kill shelter and we do not accept dogs from out in the country. Now that is said, we are all animal lovers (suckers) and have pound puppies. I live 15 miles north of Yates Center and about 2 weeks ago a pointer "Maggie" showed up at the railroad crossing by our house. She was all but STARVED to death. After several days of feeding we were able to coax her to the truck and instant best friend. We picked hundreds of ticks off of her and gave her a flea bath and treatment with front line. We also gave her a worm pill. We had her on a cable and she kept getting wrapped around the tree, so she is now at my folks house in a small pen."

" She is very sweet and calm and you can tell she knows she is getting another chance. She loved the children (ages 2 & 7) and she smelled the cat and then ignored it. She has pointed robins and meadowlarks in the pasture. She seems to tolerate my folks 2 terriers well through the pen but we haven't turned her loose with them. Her feet had sores on the bottom, we assume from the sharp rocks by the railroad tracks, but they are all but healed up. Maggie was very quiet the first few days we had her but now she is more active. I have advertised Maggie in our local newspaper, radio station and on petfinders. We have not had any calls on her. I am asking for help on finding her a home. She maybe a good hunting dog, if not she would still make someone a wonderful pet.

There is no adoption fee for Maggie and I would be willing to help meet someone within a reasonable distance."
